Since the 1970s, Rainer Loacker, founder of the Loacker vineyard estates, has been considered a biotechnology pioneer amongst wine growers in South Tyrol and Italy. The original Schwarzhof estate was first mentioned in documents in the year 1334: the wines from this region – of high quality due to the sandy clay soil and the mild climate – were already highly esteemed in the High Middle Ages, above all at the imperial court. The Loacker vineyard estate cultivates autochthonous South Tyrolean wines such as Gewürztraminer, St. Magdalener and Lagrein. International grape varieties like Cabernet, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc also find ideal possibilities for development here. Today the sons Hayo Loacker, general manager and oenologist, and sales manager Franz Josef Loacker successfully practise bio-dynamics and homoeopathy in vineyards and cellar, for great and natural wines with character.
