The "Larcherhof" vineyard has belonged to the Egger-Spögler family since 1893, but its history as a vineyard can be traced back centuries. The vineyard is situated in the traditional St. Magdalena region and still uses 70 year-old vine stocks to produce their classical St. Magdalena wine, which is composed of traditional varietals from the native Verntasch vine. Today, the "Larcherhof" focuses on the Lagrein type of wine, which prefers the local warm porphyry grounds as well as hot summer days and the cool nights during ripening, and which is grown on both the traditional pointed arches and more modern canopies. In 2008, the winery decided to press and bottle the wines themselves and to run the "Larcherhof" as a winery specialized in native regional varieties. On a total of 5 ha of vineyards, they cultivate high quality red wine such as Verntasch, St. Magdalener, Lagrein and Merlot, as well as rosé wine and a fine high quality Pinot Gris. Moreover, the winery offers year-round wine tasting.
