Felsenhof Winery
The Felsenhof Winery is the realization of a long-held dream by Benedikt Terzer, a jurist and self-taught oenologist: to craft wines that fully express the terroir and potential of his homeland. Until 2019, the family's grapes were exclusively supplied to a local winery. However, with the 2020 harvest, Benedikt Terzer began independently vinifying a portion of the Bordeaux varieties. Convinced of the potential of his own vineyards, he has since been producing expressive Merlots and Cabernets, inspired by French models yet bearing a distinctive regional character.
Situated in Cortaccia/Kurtatsch, one of South Tyrol's warmest locations ideal for viticulture, the Felsenhof Winery encompasses parcels at varying altitudes, facilitating the cultivation of diverse grape varieties. In the valley floors, where summer temperatures often exceed 35 degrees Celsius, Merlot and Cabernet achieve full ripeness and complexity. The higher-altitude vineyards, reaching up to 600 meters, provide optimal conditions for various white grape varieties thriving on favorable slopes. This range of elevations and microclimates imparts a unique depth of character to Felsenhof's wines, harmoniously balancing fruit and maturity.
