The Ebnerhof is located on the sunny southern slopes of the valley basin of Bozen/Bolzano, at the edge of the Eisack valley/ Valle Isarco. The vineyards are embedded in the weathered porphyry slopes, and shielded by oak and chestnut trees. This is a barren and quiet landscape which needs to be treated respectfully. For this reason, Johannes Plattner has been working using ecological methods for over 20 years. The vine area of the farm only consisted of Vernatsch grapes until 30 years ago. In the following years, other varietals have been introduced, including Sauvignon Blanc, the very old and local Malvasier, Pinot Noir, Lagrein, and some Merlot and Regent, which is resistant against fungus. The largest and most precious vineyards are still those which cultivate Vernatsch. The farm processes the wines by themselves, from pruning to harvesting. Through the gentle processing of the grapes in the cellar and the long maturing and stocking period, they create long-lasting wines which are rich in character.
